Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar said on Sunday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is an undeniable leader of the Congress party in Karnataka and no one needs to give a statement by misusing his name.
A section of the party says that Siddaramaiah should complete his term as the Chief Minister, reacting to Shivkumar, reacting to this statement.
Party leaders say that Siddaramaiah’s leadership is important for the party to maintain power in the next election amid speculation of possible leadership change in Karnataka later this year.
State Congress President Shivkumar has not been able to hide his ambition to become the Chief Minister on many occasions. Shivkumar said, Siddaramaiah is our Chief Minister, he is our leader, we want him in all elections. We want them in the Zilla Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Assembly and Parliament elections. He is our leader.
Shivkumar said in a conversation with reporters here, the Congress party has made Siddaramaiah the Chief Minister twice. There is no need to misuse their name on the day anyone comes. He is our leader, the undisputed leader of the Congress party. He is working as Chief Minister for the second time and doing good work. I do not want him to be the subject of media (speculation).
When asked about the statements of party leaders, Shivkumar said, there is no confusion, the Congress party is keeping an eye on everything every day. Siddaramaiah is the Chief Minister since May 2023. Prior to this, he had been the Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018.
