India has started its campaign with a great win against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy 2025. In this match, KL Rahul was included in the team as a wicketkeeper in the playing XI while Rishabh Pant was put out. Former captain Sourav Ganguly believes that KL Rahul has been given priority on Pant in Champions Toppy due to the best record in ODIs. India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has made Rahul the wicketkeeper batsman of the first choice for this ICC tournament, due to which Pant has to sit out.
Sourav Ganguly said during a program here that India is a very strong team, especially in batting. Pant is a very good player but Rahul has a great record in ODIs. So I think Gautam Gambhir is supporting Rahul.
He said that it is a very difficult task to choose either of these two because both are unmatched players. Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has expressed confidence that Virat Kohli will be able to overcome the weakness of playing leg spin and described India as a strong contender to win the Champions Trophy.
He said that India has batsmen who can score centuries and win matches. If Akshar Patel comes to bat at number five, it shows the depth of Indian batting. India does not have a shortage of talent because we have a proper system for it.
