On the day of Mahashivaratri, it is considered very virtuous to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. On this day, offering Jalabhishek of Shivling, milking, bell -leaf, dhatura, cannabis and honey, special results are obtained. It is believed that on this day, by worshiping Lord Shiva with Jalabhishek, worshiping and fasting is pleased soon and his special grace is received. This fast is also considered beneficial to maintain love and happiness and peace in married life. The devotees who awaken on this night get renewable virtue and all their wishes are fulfilled. According to Shivpuran, by keeping a fast fasting on this day and doing night awakening, all sins are destroyed and devotees attain salvation. It has been said in the scriptures that on the night of Mahashivaratri, the worship of four Prahar has special significance, in which Shivalinga is anointed with different liquids in every stroke, water in the first glory, curd in the second gesture, ghee in the third ghee and There is a law to anoint with honey in the fourth Prahar.
