The Special Executive of the Uttarakhand Police (STF) has arrested two suspected wild smugglers with two bears’ gall bladder (one organ connected to the diet) and three cartridges.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Uttarakhand STF Navneet Singh Bhullar said here on Wednesday that illegal smuggling of wildlife organs was reported from Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) Delhi, on the basis of which these suspected smugglers were arrested on Tuesday from Kalsi-Chakrata road in Johri of Kalsi area of ​​Dehradun district.

He said that 19 grams of two bears and three grains of two bears and three cartridges of 12 bore were recovered from the possession of suspected smugglers. According to him, suspected wildlife smugglers have been identified as Kalam Singh Chauhan (32) and Santu (44), residents of Baniana village of Chakrata.

Bhullar said that the bear has been placed in the first schedule of the Wildlife Protection Act and hunting it is a serious offense. He said that a case has been registered against the caught smugglers under the Wildlife Act and Arms Act in Kalsi police station. Bhullar said that the accused are being questioned and if the involvement of any other person in this case is revealed, action will also be taken against him.
