Usually this is not seen when no player or team partner forgives the fellow player for the mistake on the field. India has defeated Australia in a strong manner in the first semi -final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 at Dubai International Stadium on Monday.
In India’s semi -final match against Australia, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were clearly angry and disappointed when they lost their wickets. Here, he missed the second century in the tournament by just 16 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman later explained the reason behind the viral reaction as he revealed his conversation with Kohli before being dismissed.
When Rahul landed to bat at number 6, India needed 86 runs off 90 balls on Dubai’s difficult pitch. Chasing a target of 264 runs, a run was needed on approximately one ball, the 32 -year -old player made a simple plan. Talking to Star Sports after the match, he revealed that he asked Kohli to focus on strike rotation, as he was a set batsman, while he could play aggressively against the bowling attack.
Rahul remained adamant on his plan. After reducing the initial pressure, he hit three fours in three overs after the final drinks break. However, Kohli went contrary to the plan in the 43rd over and lost his wicket, which erupted Rahul’s viral response “Mara Na”.
Rahul said about his conversation with Kohli, “When I came on the field and when I played 10-12 balls, I told him that you are a batsman who has to play till the end and let me try and let me take a chance in one over.” “Because we needed only 6 runs per over. But on that wicket, 6 runs per over seemed to be equal to 8-8.5 per over. So, you had to take a chance in an over, a four or a six.
“So, I told him that I will do the same and why don’t you rotate the strike and live there because you are the set batter and this [मेरे लिए] Can be difficult. If you get out then another batter comes, then it becomes very difficult. But yes, he felt that it was in his range to hit and yes, he did not hit at the right time. “
Kohli admitted the mistake
After taking the Player of the Match award for his 84 -run innings, Kohli admitted that he did not follow his general style. He said, “When I was out, my plan was to score 20 runs and the attempt was to finish the match in some overs. Usually I adopt the same method, but sometimes you do not play as per your wish. It depends on all the circumstances, the pitch tells me how to play cricket and then I play accordingly.”
