The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Friday removed Giani Raghbir Singh from the post of Jathedar of Akal Takht and said that his leadership has been considered insufficient in guiding the Panth (Sikh community) in view of the increasing challenges.
Former executive Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, former executive of the Akal Takht, strongly condemned the dismissal of the Jathedars of Akal Takht and Takht Shri Kesgarh Sahib and described it as a black day for the Sikh community.
Supporting Giani Harpreet Singh, many leaders criticized the dismissal of Jathedar of Akal Takht. SGPC has appointed Kuldeep Singh Gadagaj as acting Jathedar of Akal Takht. He has also been appointed as Jathedar of Takht Kesgarh Sahib. Giani Raghbir Singh will continue to take charge of the main gland of the Golden Temple.
