Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mauritius on 11 and 12 March to attend the National Day celebrations. A contingent of Indian defense forces and a ship of the Indian Navy will attend the ceremony. India and Mauritius have good relations. In response, Vikram Egyptian said that the agreements which will be made during this visit will be made technical agreement on sharing of white shipping information. These are quite important that will help in moving the Sagar vision. He said that this is the Prime Minister’s first visit to Mauritius since 2015.

Egyptian said that a contingent of Indian defense forces will participate in the ceremony on the occasion of National Day. A ship of the Indian Navy will also be present there. Apart from this, the Akash Ganga Skyding Team of the Indian Air Force will also participate in the ceremony. India has close and long -term relations with Mauritius located in the Western Indian Ocean. One of the main reasons for special relations is the fact that about 70 percent of Mauritius’ population is about 70 percent of people of Indian origin. India has been one of Mauritius’s largest trading partners since 2005.
 

What is Sagar Vision?

Sagar Vision of India, which means security and development for all in the region, was launched in 2015. The term was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the island states of Seychelles, Mauritius and Sri Lanka. This approach was detailed during a main speech at the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), where Modi said, “Our approach to the Indian Ocean region lies in advancing cooperation in our region and using its abilities for the benefit of all in our shared sea home”.
