Raj Thackeray questioned the cleaning of the Ganges and Godavari river; BJP minister retaliated

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday questioned the cleanliness of the Ganges river and alleged that no river of the country was clean. Thackeray made this comment at an event organized to complete 19 years of establishment of MNS.

The MNS chief said that his party leader Bala Nandgaonkar had brought holy water from Mahakumbh, but he refused to drink it. Raj Thackeray said, “I have seen many videos on social media about the condition of the Ganges river. I also saw some people scratching my body in the river and bathing. ”

He claimed that no river is clean. Thackeray said, “Since when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister, I have been hearing that Ganga will be clear soon. Now the time has come to come out of this myth. ‘

Thackeray asked that if millions of people take a holy dip in the Godavari river, will anyone drink his water. Maharashtra minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Girish Mahajan retaliated on the MNS leader, saying that Thackeray has the right to express his opinion but he cannot disregard the wishes of millions who want to take a dip in the river.

Talking to reporters in Nashik on Sunday, Mahajan said, “It is true that the water of the Godavari river is currently polluted as the dirty water of the factories is released into it.” We are setting a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 1200 MLD (per day) capacity. ”

Reacting to the comments made on Thackeray’s Mahakumbh, Mahajan said that this huge gathering has been organized on the basis of the scriptures and there is also a scientific reason for this. He said that this is the faith of millions of people … Kumbh Mela will be organized in Nashik in 2027.
