Punjab: The kidnapped boy was rescued within 24 hours, kidnapper killed in encounter

A seven -year -old boy abducted from outside the house was freed within 24 hours in Ludhiana, Punjab, while the main accused in an encounter with the police was killed.

The officials gave this information on Thursday. Officials said that three policemen were also injured in the encounter in Patiala district and two other accused were arrested.

Police said Bhavakirat Singh was abducted by two motorcycle riders in Sihan Daud village of Khanna of Ludhiana at around 6 pm on Wednesday while he was playing outside his house. The boy’s grandfather Gurjant Singh reported the kidnapping to the police.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Patiala Range) Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that separate teams were formed to detect the kidnappers and save the child. Talking to reporters, Sidhu said that the kidnappers were first seen in Malerkotla after kidnapping.

He said that in a detailed investigation into the case, two persons were arrested and interrogation gave important clues in the case. Police said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav were personally monitoring the case.

He said that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of one crore rupees from the boy’s family. The DIG said that the main accused was found to be near Mandore village in Nabha, Patiala, who was riding in an SUV car.

Sidhu said that the accused fired bullets at the chasing police team, injuring three policemen. Jaspreet Singh, the main accused in retaliation, was seriously injured and later died.

Sidhu said that the police team recovered the child after searching the SUV. He said that DGP Yadav has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to the police team, which included Khanna police, Patiala police and malecotla police personnel.

According to the police, Jaspreet was also a resident of Sihan Daud village, from where the boy was kidnapped. The two other arrested accused have been identified as Harpreet Singh and Ravi Bhinder, who are residents of Amargarh area of ​​Malerkotla district. Later Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema reached her house with Bhavakirat and handed her over to her parents in Khanna.
