There is only a few days left for IPL 2025 to start. A few days before the tournament begins, Delhi Capitals announced Akshar Patel’s name as their captain. However, earlier there was a possibility that the franchise could choose KL Rahul as its captain, who has commanded the Punjab Kings and Lucknow Supaz Giants. KL Rahul’s first reaction has come in Delhi after Akshar Patel was appointed captain.

Left -arm all -rounder Akshar Patel was associated with Delhi Capitals in 2019. Since then, he has played 82 matches for the team. He was retained by the team for Rs 16.50 crore for IPL 2025. Team captain Rishabh Pant was released and the franchise did not even showed any interest in buying him in the auction. In the auction, the team bought KL Rahul for Rs 14 crore. Who has captained for Punjab and Lucknow. Reports claimed that Rahul himself refused to become captain, after which Akshar Patel has been given the command of Delhi Capitals.
