The US-China Trade War has taken a new turn online, in which Chinese social media users and diplomats have accused the White House Press Secretary Caroline Levit of hypocrisy, as she allegedly appeared in a dress made in China. A Chinese envoy has targeted the White House press secretary Caroline Lewitt for his dress that was obviously made in China. In a post on X, Jhang Jhisheng, a Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, Indonesia, shared a picture of 27 -year -old Levit, in which he wore a black -laden red dress.
The reaction began with a post by Chinese diplomatic Zhang Jisheng, in which he made fun of the contradiction between the strict stance of the Trump administration on China and the origin of the dress of Levit. Jhang, a Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, Indonesia, shared a picture wearing a levit dress and cited a Weibo user who claimed that Les Mabu was manufactured in a Chinese factory in Les Mabu. Zhang posted on X, “It is a business to accuse China. Buying in China is a life. The beautiful lace on the dress is considered by a Chinese company employee as his product.”
Controversy over Caroline Leavet’s ‘Made in China’ dress has been accused of using the US-China tariff controversy for “trade”, while in practice they are dependent on Chinese-made items. Recently, during the briefing of the White House, Caroline Leavet appeared in a red and black lace dress, which immediately attracted attention to social media.
The users pointed to it similar to the designs available on many Chinese e-commerce platforms, although it is not confirmed whether the dress was made in China or not. The current Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, Indonesia and former CG Zhang Jhisheng in Zanzibar in Tanzania also criticized the Levit on the social media platform X, as they allegedly wore a dress made of Chinese laces.

Some people argued that the dress could be a replica, while others criticized Levit that they depend on Chinese products and speak against them.
One user commented: “Clothes are all made in China, and we shout slogans to boycott China every day.” Another said: “Les Mabu was woven on the collar and platte of this dress. Our factory was painted.”
However, supporters opposed it and claim that the dress could not be of Chinese origin. One wrote “Fake news. She is wearing a French original dress while the advertisement shows Chinese copy. It is really fun, but the spin of the tweet is dishonest.
Others said, it can be a case of fake goods. “Chinese people are notorious for fake clothes. It is more likely that they have copied a luxury brand jacket,” a user said. The incident has also rejected the discussion about Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) merchandise, which has been produced by critics in China since 2016.
