Uttar Pradesh: Non-bailable warrant issued against Mukhtar Ansari’s wife Afsa Ansari

A court in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh has issued a non-bailable warrant against Mukhtar Ansari’s wife Afsa Ansari in connection with a 2020 case. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.

According to court officials, a warrant was issued to not appear in the court despite repeated summons in connection with the case registered at the South Tola police station of Afsa Ansari.

He said, “There are serious allegations against Afsa in this case. Action has been initiated under Section 299 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) and his name is now being added to ‘Makrul Register’. Makhul Register is a list of absconding accused who avoid unaccounted proceedings.”

The court, while taking action under Section 82 and 83 CRPC (Indian Penal Association), declared Afsa as a fugitive criminal and directed to attach their property. Police officer (city) Anjani Kumar Pandey said, “Afsa Ansari had already been declared wanted and reward was placed on it, which has now been increased to Rs 50,000.”

He said that after the court order, Afsa’s name is being recorded in ‘Makhul Register’ and legal action is going on. Officials said that Afsa Ansari has not yet recorded his statement in the case, due to which the court has issued a permanent warrant for his arrest.
