West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) started “malicious propaganda” in the state.
Mamta appealed to the people to maintain peace and said that majority and minority communities should take care of each other. Banerjee, referring to the violence in Murshidabad, said that “these forces” are using the background of an unfortunate incident on provocation to do divisive politics.
He alleged in an open letter, “The BJP and its allies in West Bengal have suddenly become very aggressive. The Sangh is also among these colleagues. I did not take the name of the Sangh earlier, but now I am being forced to tell his name. All these together have started a propaganda campaign in the state. ”
Mamta said, “These forces are using the background of an unfortunate incident on provocation. They are using this background to do divisive politics. They are planning to play the game of ‘divide and rule’. This is frightening. ”
Banerjee said that the “criminals” involved in the riots are being strictly dealt with. He said, “Majority and minority communities should work together and take care of each other.
