Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday laid a wreath on the bodies of 26 people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir and assured the remaining people that the culprits of this brutal act would be brought under the dock of justice. Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on X that with a heavy heart, he paid his last tribute to the dead of Pahalgam terror attack. Along with this, he warned the enemies that India will not bow down to terror. The culprits of this brutal terror attack will not be spared.
Officials said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also paid tribute to the victims. The Home Minister later interacted with the families of those killed and others surviving in the attack. Officials said that they assured them that the security forces would leave no stone unturned to punish the culprits of this fatal attack. Shah arrived here within a few hours of the attack on Wednesday night and he was informed by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat. The Home Minister also presided over a security review meeting, in which the Lieutenant Governor also attended.
The resistance front, a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) terror group, took responsibility for the attack, but the government statement that confirmed it is yet to come. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “those behind this heinous act, they will be brought to the dock of justice and will not be spared”. Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in India this morning, left his visit to Saudi Arabia and presided over an important meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at Delhi Airport this morning.
