Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday informed about the important decisions taken by the National Security Committee (NSC) in view of the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam area of Kashmir. According to the report, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz met Nawaz at his family residence in Jati Umra with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. During the meeting, Shahbaz underlined his government’s stand and discussed Pakistan’s readiness to respond to any attack with more force.
According to sources, Shahbaz Sharif described the Pahalgam terrorist incident as another false campaign by Indians to create instability in the region. He further stated that unilateral decisions by India to suspend the Indus Water Treaty have increased the risk of war in the region. Emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to peace, Shahbaz said that Pakistan is committed to peace, but no compromise can be made on the security of the country.
An internal source of PML-N revealed that Nawaz Sharif advised the government to use all available diplomatic resources to restore peace between the two nuclear-skilled countries. The former Pak PM expressed doubts about allegedly adopting an aggressive stance, instead of diplomatic efforts. In the Indian side, the Indian Army is arresting all those who belong to all the terrorists who kill innocent Indian citizens. And in this operation, he has mixed the houses of these local terrorists into dust from the blasts and also killed the top Lashkar commander Altaf Lali.
