The convoy carrying Asifa Bhutto Zardari, a member of the National Assembly and daughter of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was stopped by protesters for some time near Jamshoro Toll Plaza when she was going to Nawabshah from Karachi. According to police sources, a group of angry protesters stopped the convoy and raised slogans against the controversial canal project and corporate farming initiative. Some protesters allegedly attacked vehicles involved in the convoy with their hands and sticks, causing tension on the highway. The security team along with the convoy with Hyderabad and Jamshoro police took immediate action. Asifa Bhutto’s vehicle was evacuated from the spot without any incident. SSP Jamshoro Zafar Siddiq confirmed that the convoy had stopped for less than a minute and did not harm MNA or their security personnel.
