Family demands CBI investigation, police accused of negligence

The 25 -year -old woman from Indore, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who went missing in Meghalaya during a honeymoon, had earlier urged the central government to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The appeal has been made amid the negligence made by the Meghalaya Police and the increasing disappointment over ineffective investigation. Sonam and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi (29) disappeared only a few hours after checking out of a homestay in Nongriyat village in East Khasi Hills district on 23 May. On June 2, the king’s body was recovered from a deep moat near a waterfall in the Sohra area, about 20 km from Homestay. The Meghalaya Police later registered a case of murder, but so far no clue has been found about Sonam’s hideout.
