Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday informed AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on 4 June during the celebration of RCB’s victory outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 4 June. Speaking to the media in Delhi, the CM said that he explained in detail about the developments and the steps taken and the leaders are satisfied with the government’s response. Asked whether the state government would take responsibility for the stampede deaths in Bengaluru, he said that the same thing would be applicable to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and expressed surprise whether he had resigned for the deaths in the stampede in Mahakumbh in Prayagraj earlier this year. Regarding the BJP’s plan to raise the issue of deaths in the stampede in Parliament, he said that the party should first discuss the deaths during the Mahakumbh and the bridge collapse in Gujarat, in which people died within a few days of the Prime Minister’s inauguration of the bridge.
Siddaramaiah said, “There was a discussion about caste census. Some organizations, religious heads and even some ministers had expressed concern over it. The report presented on the caste census has been accepted in principle. It has been agreed that caste census should be done. We have agreed to this. However, we will do a new survey. There is a new one. New calculations are necessary. The way we are conducting survey for Scheduled Castes, we will discuss another.
