The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to hear the petition to stop the examination conducted for the recruitment of teachers in Andhra Pradesh and said it could not be stopped “in the middle”.
A bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan told the petitioner’s counsel, “We do not make any mechanisms to conduct the exams. We do not have expertise in this. ”
The bench questioned the petitioner’s counsel as to why he did not go to Andhra Pradesh High Court first. When the lawyer stated that the High Court is a summer holiday, the bench said, “Andhra Pradesh High Court is opening again on June 16 after summer vacation. In view of this, we are not in favor of considering this petition under Article 32 of the Constitution of India. The petitioners are free to knock on the doors of the High Court. ”
The petitioner’s counsel cited the government notification and said that the examination was to be conducted in several shifts for the recruitment of district level. The lawyer said, “They are moving towards computer -based examination….”
The bench, however, said, “Exams have started. We cannot stop them in the middle. ”Additional Solicitor General SV Raju told the bench that more than one lakh candidates have already appeared in the examinations.
The petition said that the state government has started the process to fill more than 16,000 posts of teachers and examinations will be held from June 6 to July 6.
