) Drugs worth Rs 24.66 crore have been seized from Mumbai International Airport and three people including two passengers have been arrested in this case. Customs officials gave this information on Thursday. He said that this drug was smuggled from Thailand and brought to India.
An official said that the arrested people also included the person who came to pick up this consignment of drug and was waiting outside the airport. He said that on the basis of intelligence information, the Mumbai Customs (III Zone) officials stopped two passengers from Bangkok on reaching Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on Wednesday.
Officials said that after searching the belongings of both the passengers, the drugs kept hidden in it were recovered. He said that the weighing of the seized drug is 24.96 kg and its estimated price is Rs 24.66 crore.
The official said that the two passengers said during interrogation that the third person is waiting outside the airport to take the consignment. Later he was also caught.
He said that after this the three were arrested and a case has been registered against them under the relevant sections of the self -drug and the effective substance (NDPS) Act. The official said the investigation of the case has revealed that an international drug gang is involved in the smuggling.
