Canadian top intelligence agency has officially acknowledged that a small group of Canadian -based Khalistani extremists (CBKE) mainly continue to pose a threat to national security by using Canadian earth to promote, fund or plan of violence by targeting India. The Canadian Safety Intelligence Service (CSIS) said in its latest annual report submitted to Parliament, “Only a group of some individuals is considered Khalistani extremist, as they mainly use Canada as the basis to promote violence in India, raise money or plan.

CSIS claimed that such activity falls under a politically inspired violent extremism (PMVE), which he defines as an use of violence to bring a new political system or change the current system. Politics -inspired violent extremism (PMVE) encourages the use of violence to establish a new political system or new structure or criteria within the current arrangements. The PMVE doers engage in planning, financed and facilitated globally to establish new political system or institutions.

According to CSIS, since the mid -1980s, Canada has appeared the most as PMVE CBKE, which wants to use and support violent means to create an independent nation state called “Khalistan, which is primarily in Punjab, India. Although no attack on CBKE’s land in 2024 was not recorded any attack on Canada’s land, even the CSSIs also warned that the danger is still active.
