Yoga is a great example of India’s gentle power and shared heritage of the entire mankind: President Murmu

President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday described Yoga as a great example of India’s gentle power and said that yoga has now become a common heritage of the entire mankind.

Addressing a program in the police line here on the occasion of Yoga Day, the President said that since the United Nations has adopted India’s proposal to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day (IDY) in 2015, since then most countries around the world have made yoga a part of their daily lives and are benefiting from it.

He said, “It has now become a shared legacy of the entire mankind.” Giving the example of the increasing international popularity of yoga, he mentioned Yoga seeker Shikha Shekha Ali al-Jabar al Saba of Kuwait, which was honored by the Government of India for promoting yoga and integrating cultures through it.

The President said, “Yoga is not associated with any religion, sect or community. This is an art of living a healthy life. ”He appealed to everyone to adopt it as a daily practice for mental and physical health.

He said that yoga is effective in preventing lifestyle related diseases, increasing immunity and connecting the mind, body and soul. Murmu performed his three -day visit to Uttarakhand on Saturday.

Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmeet Singh also attended the event. The Governor said that yoga is an invaluable gift given by India to the world.

He said, “India is already playing its role as ‘Vishwa Guru’ in the field of yoga.” The program was also present in the program, the cabinet minister of the state, Subodh Uniyal, where a large number of people from different areas did yoga.
