Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s energy, his multidimensional personality and readiness of dialogue remain a “important capital” for India on the global stage, but it needs more cooperation and support. His remarks may once again put the Congress in an uncomfortable position and the rift in his relationship with the party leadership may be deeper.
The praise of Tharoor for the Prime Minister has come at a time when the Congress is continuously attacking the Modi government on foreign policy and alleging that Indian diplomacy has collapsed and the country has been “isolated” globally.
In an article written for the English daily ‘The Hindu’, Tharoor said that the diplomatic contact after “Operation Sindoor” was a moment of national resolution and effective dialogue. The Prime Minister’s Office shared this article of Tharoor on the social media forum ‘X’ and said, “Lok Sabha member and former Union Minister Dr. Shashi Tharoor writes:” Lessons from the global reach related to Operation Sindoor. ”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a sarcasm at the Congress for praising Prime Minister Modi by Tharoor and said that the MP from Thiruvananthapuram has “exposed” Rahul Gandhi.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said in a post on ‘X’, “Shashi Tharoor has admitted that Prime Minister Modi’s multi -faceted personality and global access is strategically beneficial for India.”
Bhandari said, “Shashi Tharoor has exposed Rahul Gandhi.” In the article, Tharoor said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s energy, his multi -faceted personality and dialogue’s readiness remains an important capital for India on the global stage, but it requires more support.
Throor, head of the multi -party delegation, who went to the US and four other countries to convey India’s stance after the Pahalgam terror attack and the ‘Operation Sindoor’ military operation, said, “The diplomatic contact was a moment of national resolution and effective dialogue after Operation Sindoor. It has confirmed that India can put its voice on international forums with clarity and conviction when united.
In his article, Tharoor said that India’s strong response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025 and through the ‘Operation Sindoor’ presented an important side for the country’s foreign policy.
He said, “The immediate military action was decisive, but the subsequent subsequent contact was equally important, if not more, in shaping global perceptions and strengthening international support.
Tharoor said, leading one of the seven all -party parliamentary delegations in five countries of Western Hemisphere – Guyana, Panama, Columbia, Brazil and America gave me a unique opportunity to consider the lesson learned from this deep round of public diplomacy.
