Sco Summit | Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Doval will also be together on terrorism in China

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval can visit China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meetings. Sources said Singh is likely to travel to Qingdao from 25–27 June, while Doval is likely to travel to China from 24–26 June. This will be the first meeting of Singh and Doval with his Chinese counterparts after military enmity between India and Pakistan after the Operation Sindoor launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in May this year.

 Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will insist on increasing cooperative efforts to end terrorism and extremism at a two -day conference of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) starting in Kingdao, China on Wednesday.

The Singh conference is traveling to the port city of Kingdao in East Shandong province of China, where the regional security scenario is expected to be discussed. This is the first visit of a senior Indian minister to China since the tension in relations after military deadlock over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh in May 2020.

According to an official statement, lion is expected to underline India’s continuous commitment to SCO’s principles, emphasize India’s vision towards large international peace and security and call for joint and continuous efforts to end terrorism and extremism in the region. It states that the Defense Minister can also insist on the need for more trade, economic cooperation and contact within the SCO.

He will also hold bilateral meetings with defense ministers of some partner countries including China and Russia. The Ministry of Defense said, “The SCO gives special importance to promoting multilateralism, political, economic and mutual contact between people in the region.” It states that SCO follows his policy based on sovereignty, regional integrity of nations, non -interference in internal affairs, mutual respect, understanding and principles of equality of all member countries.

In their discussions, the two sides reviewed recent developments in India-China bilateral relations and confirmed the importance of advancing the overall relations between the two countries. Emphasis was laid on promoting greater exchange among people to create mutual understanding and strengthen diplomatic engagement.NSA Doval highlighted the immediate need for concerted efforts to deal with all forms and manifestations of terrorism. He emphasized that it is necessary to deal with safety threats to ensure long -term peace and stability in the region.

The two leaders also exchanged ideas on many bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest, which reflects the wide scope of India-China relations.
