The political temperature in the country’s capital Delhi is already rising due to the assembly elections to be held next year in 2025. The main reason for which is the tussle and war of words between BJP and Aam Aadmi Party. After the crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP has started giving responsibilities to its local leaders on different fronts regarding the Delhi Assembly elections. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal himself is in the fray. He is visiting every street and colony of Delhi and meeting the public.
Where does Congress stand after all?
Congress had contested the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Delhi in alliance with AAP, which was a complete flop. There is a dilemma among the people of Delhi and in the political circles whether Congress will contest the assembly elections in alliance with AAP? However, there are indications from Congress that it is going to fight the Delhi elections alone. It is difficult for Congress to form an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party. Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav and senior Congress leader Sandeep Dixit have raised their voice against AAP and Arvind Kejriwal for the last few days.
Swords drawn regarding alliance
Even after former Aam Aadmi Party leader and government minister Kailash Gehlot left the party, Congress has fiercely attacked these two leaders. Sandeep Dixit has said in an interview that Arvind Kejriwal has not followed the coalition dharma in Delhi. This is a clear indication that Congress is in a mood to fight the assembly elections alone. Many local leaders of Congress have joined Aam Aadmi Party. There is increased tension and anger in Congress regarding this matter also.
Congress is carrying out ‘Nyaya Yatra’ in Delhi
Nyaya Yatra is being taken out under the leadership of Congress State President Devendra Yadav in Delhi regarding the upcoming assembly elections. Under this yatra, Congress party leaders will address the people in all the 70 assembly seats of Delhi and will try to change the current political situation in the national capital Delhi in favor of the Congress, so that the Congress flag can fly high in the upcoming elections. However, no special interest has been seen so far among the national leaders of Congress regarding this visit. Rahul Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and other big leaders have not yet become aggressive regarding Delhi.
Challenge for Congress to contest elections alone
If Congress contests the elections alone then Congress will have to open a front against BJP and Aam Aadmi Party. However, some Congress leaders have also started attacking Arvind Kejriwal regarding the Delhi liquor scam and the poor condition of Delhi. But the biggest challenge for Congress will be to explain its stand to the people of Delhi. Actually, during the Lok Sabha elections, Congress leaders were giving statements in defense of Arvind Kejriwal. The same leader is now attacking Arvind Kejriwal. The people of Delhi are also confused seeing the attitude of Congress.
