AAP preparations begin for assembly elections, party leader Gopal Rai reveals candidate selection

Aam Aadmi Party has started preparations for the assembly elections to be held in Delhi next year. The Aam Aadmi Party, which is currently in power in Delhi, will conduct a survey to know the public reaction in all the 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi before announcing the tickets for the Delhi Assembly elections. This information has also been given quoting the party’s state coordinator Gopal Rai. He said that AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has announced about the survey in the district conference of party workers on Monday. Along with this he said that everything will be done as per the instructions of the former Chief Minister.
Opinion will be taken from the people of Delhi
Gopal Rai said in the press conference, ‘People’s opinion will be taken about the sitting MLAs and ticket seekers.’ He said that AAP has been taking major decisions on the basis of public response and this time also the same will be done in the matter of ticket distribution. Speaking at the conference of mandal in-charges in Kirari assembly constituency, Kejriwal said that ticket distribution would be done on the basis of surveys conducted by the party as well as actions taken by ticket seekers.
The party had got 62 seats in the last elections
In the last elections held in 2020, AAP had won 62 assembly seats. So this time the party is aiming to improve its numbers by winning more than 62 seats. Kejriwal said that this time the tickets will be distributed only after serious deliberations. Delhi Assembly elections are to be held in February 2025. Apart from AAP, BJP and Congress will also be in the fray.
BJP desperate to return to power
BJP, which won only eight seats in the last elections, is gearing up to win the elections this time and form the government in Delhi after a gap of 25 years. Bharatiya Janata Party had earlier won the Delhi Assembly elections in 1993. Ahead of the elections, Kejriwal and other senior AAP leaders are holding district level meetings to prepare party workers for the campaign. Kejriwal said that no matter who contests the elections on AAP ticket, party workers should think that the former chief minister is contesting on all 70 seats and their loyalty should be towards him only.
