Karachi. Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has requested the team management and national selectors not to consider his name for the Test matches in South Africa to manage the workload. Afridi wants to be fully fit for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in February-March. On the announcement of Pakistan team without Shaheen for the two Tests against South Africa, senior selector Aaqib Javed said that workload management is being done in an effort to keep him fresh for the Champions Trophy.
The source said, “The fact is that Shaheen himself had requested that he be kept out of Test matches till the Champions Trophy.” He said that Shaheen told the team management and the board that he wanted to play with a Bangladesh Premier League team. He has also received an offer and has assured that he will manage the workload during the T20 league to be held from December 30 to February 7.
