According to the joint exit poll released by the country’s three major broadchers KBS, MBC and SBS after the election on Tuesday, the liberal contender Li J-Mayang is expected to become the next President of South Korea. The poll shows that Lee got 51.7% of the votes, while conservative rival Kim Moon Suu got 39.3% of the votes. This result has come to light amidst political stress and deep disappointment among the people after former President Yun Suk Yol was removed from the post in April.

Sudden elections were held after political turmoil
The election was caused by the orthodox leader like Suk Yeol being dramatically removed, which was impeached and later dismissed to implement martial law in December. The collapse of this pushed the country into political void and gave rise to widespread protests, which led to polarization in the public. Due to no time for traditional two -month infection, the winning candidate is expected to be sworn in immediately on Wednesday, who will command the country struggling with a slow economy and delicate foreign policy challenges.

Candidates presented sharp contradictions
Former Governor and a long -time critic of South Korea’s conservative establishment launched promises to reduce inequality, promote the economy and restore confidence in the government. He urged the voters to reject the “forces of rebellion” in terms of the results of Yun’s martial law decree. In contrast, under Yun, a former Labor Minister Kim Moon Suu warned that Lee’s becoming President could lead to excessive concentration and political vengeance. He portrayed Lee as a populist person with a powerful tendency.
