In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a man threw 500 rupee notes from his apartment window, causing bundles of notes. The person was identified as Baikunth Nath Sarangi, an employee of the state government, who is the Chief Engineer in the Rural Development Department of the state. The entire incident came to light when the government recovered cash worth more than Rs 2 crore from alleged corruption and disproportionate assets. The Chief Engineer of the Rural Department was under investigation for a long time.
Rs 2 crore cash recovered from home
Officials of the Vigilance Department in Odisha recovered more than Rs 2 crore cash and valuable assets from the possession of the government engineer during the raid, which is suspected to be more than the income. He informed that a search operation is going on in the engineer’s residence and office. In a statement, the Anti -Corruption Branch of Odisha Police raided the residence and office of Baikunth Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer of RW Division, Odisha, Bhubaneswar’s plan Rhodes, Bhubaneswar.
1 crore cash recovered from Bhubaneswar flat
An official said that about Rs 1 crore in cash was recovered from his flat in Bhubaneswar, while Rs 1.1 crore was recovered from the residence of Sarangi. Another official said, on seeing the vigilance officials, Sarangi threw bundles of 500 rupee notes from his flat window in Bhubaneswar. Cash was recovered in the presence of witnesses.
