The schedule of the 2025-26 Ashes series between Australia and England has been announced on Wednesday. The first match of the 5-match Test series will be played in Perth from 21 to 25 November 2025. The first match of the Ashes series will be held in Perth Stadium after 43 years. The England team has not won a Test match in Perth since 1978. She has not played a single match at Perth Stadium.
The day-night test will be played at Gabba in Brisbane from 4-8 December. There will be a pink ball test for the first time in the Ashes. The pre-Christmas Test match will be played at the Adelaide Oval from 17 to 21 December. The Boxing Day Test will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from 26 to 30 December. The New Year Test will be played between 4 and 8 January.
For the first time in more than four decades, the Ashes series will start at a ground other than the Gabba. It will become the eighth Australian Ashes venue since the first clash between the two countries in 1877. Perth Stadium was to host the fifth Test in the 2020-21 Covid era, but that match was shifted to Hobart’s Bellerive Oval due to Western Australia’s strict quarantine rules during the pandemic.
The last time an Ashes campaign in Australia began in a city other than Brisbane was in 1982–83. The match was played at WACA Stadium in Perth. Australia has won the last eight Ashes Tests played in Perth. In two of these he won by innings. England’s 150-run defeat was in 2013–14, when Australia again won the Ashes trophy.
