Atishi resigns from post after a crushing defeat in Delhi elections, LG Vinai Kumar Saxena dissolved assembly

CM Atishi resigned from his post on Sunday, a day after the Aam Aadmi Party defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. He submitted his resignation to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. After Atishi’s resignation, the Lieutenant Governor dissolved the seventh assembly of Delhi. For this, he issued a notification.
Let me tell you, out of 70 assembly seats in the results yesterday, BJP has won 48 seats. Arvind Kejriwal -led AAP won only 22 seats. The Congress did not get a single seat in the election.
Lieutenant Governor dissolved Delhi Assembly
According to the notification issued on Sunday, using the power provided by me sub -section (2) (B) of Section 6 of the National Capital Region Delhi Government Act, 1991, 1, Vinay Kumar Saxena of Delhi, National from 08 February 2025 The capital region dissolves the seventh assembly of Delhi.

Atishi resigns
After AAP’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, CM Atishi resigned from his post on Sunday. He reached Raj Niwas and submitted his resignation to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
In September last year, Atishi was sworn in as Chief Minister, when AAP convenor and his predecessor Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post due to corruption charges. Five women candidates, including outgoing Chief Minister Atishi, won the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, while the number was eight in the 2020 election.
