Bangladesh: Tribunal removed the appointed lawyer to rescue Hasina

Bangladesh’s Crime Tribunal on Wednesday removed the government -appointed advocate to protect former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who had earlier demanded the hanging of (Hasina).

Bangladesh International Crime Tribunal (ICT-BD) is prosecuting against Hasina. Hasina’s nearly 16 -year -old government fell after a agitation of students on August 5 last year.

According to Bangladesh officials, the ICT-BD has relieved Aminul Ghani Titu, appointed as a defense counsel for Hasina. A day earlier, the tribunal appointed him to defend the former Prime Minister.

Hasina is accused of massacre in the country during July to August 2024. The tribunal appointed Aamir Hussain as Hasina in the relevant incident and Asdujman Khan, who was the Home Minister in his cabinet, was a defense counsel for Kamal.

Titu made a comment on Facebook last year, which recently arose in the media. Titu admitted in a conversation with reporters that he had made his demand for hanging in his Facebook post a few hours before Hasina was removed from the post of Prime Minister on August 5, 2024, but if he was allowed to do his work, he would have done it in a professional manner. Hasina is currently in India and most of her party leaders are either behind bars or have gone missing.
