Bengaluru Stampede: Police are not a magician … Cat responsible for the death of 11 people in stampede

The Central Administrative Judgment (CAT) has held RCB management responsible for a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 4 June. CAT has said that, the RCB management suddenly announced a victory procession on social media without police permission, which led to a crowd of millions and stamped in it. Let me tell you that 11 people lost their lives in this stampede while more than 55 people were injured.
CAT’s Bengaluru Peeth Justice BK Srivastava and administrative member Santosh Mehra said in the order that, prima facie it appears that RCB is responsible for the crowd of about 3 to 5 lakh people. RCB did not take necessary permission or consent from the state police. He suddenly posted information on social media to celebrate his IPL 2025 victory and a crowd of people gathered as a result.
Also, CAT said that, due to lack of time, the police was unable to make proper arrangements. The police cannot be expected that in about 12 hours of short time, it will make all the necessary arrangements. CAT further said that policemen are also humans. He is neither a god nor a magician. He has no magical powers like Alladin’s lamp to fulfill any wish by rubbing his finger.
CAT made this comment while hearing a petition filed by Indian police officer Vikas Kumar to cancel his suspension. The Central Administrative Justice, while giving relief to IPS Vikas Kumar, has also canceled his suspension and ordered the time of suspension period to be considered part of Bhai Service.
Along with ordering the restoration of Vikas Kumar, the Central Administrative Judgment has also suggested the government to reconsider the restoration of the then Police Commissioner B Dayanand and Deputy Commissioner Shekhar H. Teknawar, who were suspended in the case.
