Big announcement by Nitin Gadkari, Rs 25,000 will be given to those injured in road accidents if they are taken to the hospital.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said good Samaritans who help injured accident victims will be given a reward of Rs 25,000, five times the existing reward. Gadkari said the existing reward of Rs 5,000 is not enough for those who take road accident victims to hospital within the critical first hour after the incident. The minister further informed that the government will now cover hospital expenses up to Rs 1.5 lakh for the first seven days for persons injured in accidents.

At the event, Gadkari said the scheme is not limited to people getting injured only on national highways, but also applies to people getting injured on state highways. According to the Good Samaritan Scheme launched in October 2021, persons who save the life of a fatal accident victim by providing immediate aid and taking him to the hospital within the golden hour (first hour after the accident) will be rewarded.

The government defines good people as those who, in good faith, without expectation of payment or reward and without any duty of care or special regard, assist a person injured in an accident, or mishap, or emergency medical situation, or emergency. Comes forward voluntarily to provide immediate assistance or emergency care. Nitin Gadkari on Monday said that infrastructure development is necessary to achieve the goal of a developed India as the economy depends on good transport and communication facilities.
