Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday claimed that by 2029, when the BJP-led NDA completes 15 years in power at the Centre, Bihar’s national highway network will rival that of the United States. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari made this statement while speaking at a series of programs in Bodh Gaya. The minister said that rapid progress is being seen in road infrastructure in Bihar. He said that I promise that after the current five-year term, when we complete 15 years in power, Bihar’s network will be at par with America.

He further said that the state’s road network has seen considerable improvement in the last few years. “Bihar’s road network has seen tremendous improvement over the years and the NDA government will continue to work for further development,” he said. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 3,700 crore. Gadkari emphasized that Bodhgaya, the center of cultural heritage of Bihar and India, is set for accelerated development with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of new projects today.

Gadkari wrote on Twitter that Nalanda and Patna districts will benefit from the widening of Hasanpur to Bakhtiyarpur road inaugurated today. Also, this route will provide better connectivity from Jharkhand state to Bihar. This project will ease traffic and freight and will also encourage trade and industries. The benefits of all these projects will prove important in the development of the area. Important tourist places like Bodhgaya and Rajgir will be connected with better connectivity.

Other new projects were announced during the event today. Widening of Mokama to Munger road of 90 km length at a cost of Rs 5100 crore which includes religious places Ashokdham and Badhiya spur announced. Announced 11 km 4-lane bridge and 19 km approach road over Gandak river near Bettiah in West Champaran at a cost of Rs 2500 crore. Announced 11 rail over bridges on National Highways in Bihar and ROBs in 9 cities at a cost of Rs 1250 crore.

To relieve Patna from traffic jam, 9 km long Anisabad to AIIMS elevated road was announced on National Highway 139 at a cost of Rs 1000 crore. Announced 30 km service road from Bodhgaya to Dobhi at a cost of Rs 140 crore. Announced 14 km 6-lane greenfield road from Ramnagar to Kachchi Dargah at a cost of Rs 1113 crore. Amas-Darbhanga corridor will be connected to Patna Ring Road. Patna to Orhiya route announced.
