Sharadchandra Pawar, citing an article published in a Marathi weekly associated with the RSS, said that through this, the BJP is sending a message to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar-led NCP to break away from the ruling 'Mahayuti' in Maharashtra. As a result, the BJP performed poorly in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
Mumbai. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) on Wednesday cited an article published in a Marathi weekly associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and said that through this, the BJP is sending a message to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar-led NCP to break away from the ruling 'Mahayuti' in Maharashtra. The article published in the weekly Vivek said that after the alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 2023, public sentiment has risen rapidly against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), resulting in the BJP's poor performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
NCP (SP) spokesperson Clyde Crasto said at a press conference here that after the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is trying to win the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, but it has realized that continuing the alliance with the Ajit Pawar-led party will harm its prospects. He said, “The truth is that the people of Maharashtra have voted in favor of NCP (SP) on a large scale. The BJP is also working cautiously in this whole matter because it wants to win the elections. ”
“But the alliance with the NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will defeat them in the next election as well, just like the Lok Sabha elections… The article in the weekly (Vivek) is one of the ways they are trying to distance themselves from Ajit Pawar and perhaps in some way or the other ask him to leave (Mahayuti),” Crasto claimed. The NCP(SP) spokesperson said the RSS-affiliated publication had written another article with similar content a few weeks ago. “The decision to bring Ajit Pawar on board has created problems for the BJP. That is why the party has lost several Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. This is the current reality in electoral politics in Maharashtra. It seems that people have not accepted the BJP's alliance with the NCP and similarly with the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde,” Crasto said.
