Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu alleged that former MLA from Hamirpur assembly seat and now BJP candidate Ashish Sharma is not a public servant but a contractor. Sharma is one of the three independent MLAs who have resigned from the assembly to contest the by-election as a BJP candidate.

Hamirpur. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday alleged that former MLA and now BJP candidate from Hamirpur assembly seat Ashish Sharma is not a public servant but a contractor. The Chief Minister said that this is the first case in the country and the state when an independent MLA has resigned from the post and decided to contest election again on the ticket of another political party. Sharma is one of the three independent MLAs who have resigned from the assembly to contest the by-election as BJP candidates. The other two candidates are contesting from Dehra and Nalagarh seats.

Addressing a rally here, Sukhu said, “Ashish took contracts worth Rs 50 crore in the previous BJP government and Rs 135 crore in 14 months of the Congress government.” The Chief Minister alleged that on one hand Sharma kept asking for tenders from him as an MLA, but on the other hand he told the people that the Chief Minister is not working. Targeting Sharma, Sukhu alleged, “The former independent MLA is a greedy and arrogant person. His intentions are bad and that is why he sold himself in the BJP's 'political market'.
