BJP Hands Command to Babylal Marandi in Jharkhand Assembly

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday appointed Dhanwar MLA Babulal Marandi as the leader of its legislative party in the Jharkhand Assembly. During a meeting held in Ranchi, Marandi, who is also the Jharkhand BJP President, was unanimously elected the leader of the legislative party. He was appointed amidst the party’s strategic effort to strengthen his leadership in the state. Prior to the verdict, the BJP Parliamentary Board on Wednesday announced two central observers to monitor the election of party MLA leader.

Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and BJP OBC Morcha National President Dr. K Laxman (MP) were entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the process. The selection of Marandi indicates continuously focusing on the BJP’s strengthening its position in Jharkhand as the party is ready for the upcoming political challenges in the state. At the same time, there was a dramatic turn in the budget session of Jharkhand Assembly on Wednesday when BJP MLAs extended the House as a protest.

Former Chief Minister and BJP state president Babulal Marandi accused the Assembly Speaker of suppressing the voice of the opposition. Marandi alleged that the chairman is unnecessarily taking the side of the ruling party, giving more time to his members to speak while the opposition members are repeatedly interrupting. He said that today, when BJP MLA Neera Yadav was speaking, members of the ruling party stopped him repeatedly and instead of maintaining the system, the president defended him. When he demanded an additional time to compensate the disruption, his request was rejected. This is gross injustice and arbitrary.
