Preparations of all the parties have intensified for the assembly elections to be held in Maharashtra after a few days. All the parties have started their respective preparations. However, the date has still not been announced by the Election Commission. Every seat in Maharashtra has its own history. Rajura constituency comes under Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency. From where Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Devrao Vithoba Bhongle. Meanwhile, Subhash Ramachandrarao Dhote of the Indian National Congress Party is the current MLA from Rajura assembly constituency.
The Congress MLA had won the 2019 assembly elections by securing 60,228 votes. This area is said to be a stronghold of Congress. Although the Modi wave had demolished this fort of Congress in 2014, but in the 2019 assembly elections, Congress once again made a tremendous comeback. From the Congress side, leader Subhash Ramchandrarao Dhote has been leading this seat.
However, there came a time when the party was doubtful even about giving him the ticket. There was an atmosphere of protest in Rajura over the case of sexual exploitation of minor tribal girls. Subhash Ramchandrarao Dhote was the president of the school where this incident took place, due to which his image was greatly affected. The party was worried that his decision should not impact the party’s image. Even after this, Subhash R Dhote got the ticket from the party and he also won.
Rajura is famous for cement production
This assembly constituency is said to be the center of the cement producing area of the state. According to the 2011 Census of India, the population here was 138,408. According to the same census, there are about 52,043 Scheduled Caste voters in Rajura Assembly. There are approximately 73,674 Scheduled Tribe voters. Apart from this, according to 2011 census, the number of Muslim voters is approximately 14,918. There are 265,065 rural voters and 73,979 urban voters. Which is approximately 78.18% according to 2011 census. According to the 2019 parliamentary elections, there are a total of 339044 voters here. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, 69.57% voters voted, while in the assembly elections, about 66.33% voters participated.
History of Rajura Seat
In the last assembly elections held in 2019, Subhash Ramachandra Rao of Congress Party remained at number 1. He had received 60228 votes. At the second position, STBP’s advocate Vaman Sadashivrao remained active. He had received 57727 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sanjay Yadavrao was at number three. He had obtained 51051 votes. Talking about 2014 elections, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sanjay Yadavrao remained at number one. He had received 66223 votes.
So, Congress leader Subhash Ramachandra Rao remained at number two. He had received 63945 votes. The name of NCP’s Nimkar Sudarshan Bhagwanrao was at third place. Who obtained 29528 votes. Talking about 2009, Subhash Ramachandra Rao remained at number 1 from Congress. He had received a total of 61476 votes. The name of Sanjay Yadorao Dhote from STBP was at number two. Who received 45389 votes. At the third position was the name of independent candidate Nimje Arun Keshao. Who had received a total of 17756 votes.
