Kumar criticized the government’s rehabilitation policy and questioned its timing and intentions. “Is Siddaramaiah close to the Naxalites, or are those who are close to the Naxalites close to them?” he asked, alleging that this policy could demoralize the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF), which has been fighting left-wing extremism for years. He further claimed that it was someone who surrendered after the killing of Maoist leader Vikram Gowda in an encounter in Udupi district last month. Surrender is not a package but a dangerous exercise to increase the number of urban Naxalites.
Karnataka BJP general secretary Sunil Kumar has expressed concern over the Karnataka government’s decision to facilitate the surrender of six Maoists. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Kumar termed the government’s move as a package designed to convert forest Naxalites into urban Naxalites. The surrender comes a week after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appealed to the Maoists to lay down their arms and join the democratic mainstream. Six persons, Mundagaru Latha, Sundari Kuthalur, Vanajakshi Balehole, Marappa Aroli (Karnataka), K Vasanth (Tamil Nadu) and Jisha (Kerala) surrendered before the Chief Minister today.

Kumar said that this is not a surrender package but a dangerous exercise to increase the number of urban Naxalites.
When asked about the surrender arrangement, Home Minister Parameshwara said that I can only say that they are surrendering. I cannot share details about their demands or our promises. These will be revealed later. Kumar urged the government to rethink the policy and focus on development to win the trust of the people instead of offering packages for surrender.
