Ranjan Yadav, who defeated Lalu Yadav from Patliputra, has joined Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Earlier, the former MP from Patliputra constituency had returned to JDU in 2022. Now, two years later, he is ready to jump in again.

Ranjan Yadav, who defeated Lalu Yadav from Patliputra, has joined Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Earlier, the former MP from Patliputra constituency had returned to JDU in 2022. Now, two years later, he is ready to jump in again. Yadav had played an innings with JD(U) in 2009 and contested from Patliputra Lok Sabha seat on the party symbol, defeating then Bihar's powerful leader Lalu Prasad Yadav. Before joining JDU, he was in LJP.

He left JDU in 2014 after Nitish Kumar formed a 'grand alliance' with RJD and Congress. After leaving JD(U), he formed a political party – 'Janata Dal Nationalist'.

Ranjan Prasad Yadav was a member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. Yadav represented Patliputra constituency of Bihar and is a member of the Janata Dal (United) political party. Educated from Science College, Patna University, Yadav obtained a doctorate degree after doing MSc in Geology. Before joining politics he worked as a professor.
