Cancels issued to Pakistani citizens canceled, started to return from Attari-Wagha Border Road

In the order of decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs in view of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Government of India has decided to suspend visa services with immediate effect to Pakistani citizens. All the current valid visas issued by India to Pakistani citizens have been canceled from 27 April 2025. The Ministry of External Affairs said that medical visas issued to Pakistani citizens would be valid only by 29 April 2025.

The ministry said that at present all Pakistani citizens present in India should leave India before the revised visa period ends. Indian citizens are given strict advice to avoid traveling to Pakistan. Currently, Indian citizens present in Pakistan are also advised to return to India as soon as possible. After the central government’s 48-hour time limit, many Pakistani citizens started returning home from Attari-Wagh land in Amritsar on Thursday. The departure was extended just a day after the government issued instructions amid increasing tension.
In response to a deadly terrorist attack on Tuesday in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, in which 26 people lost their lives, the Center announced several tough steps on Wednesday. These include expel to Pakistani military Attashe, suspending the 1960 Indus Water Treaty and immediate closure of the Attari Integrated Check Post citing cross -border relations. On Thursday morning, many Pakistani families arrived at the integrated check post (ICP) in Amritsar to return home from the Attari-Wagh land road. A family from Karachi said that they had come to Delhi to meet relatives.

“We came here (India) here (India) and today we are returning home, although we had a 45 -day visa.” When asked about the Pahalgam terror attack, the Pakistani citizen replied, “Whoever has done this is completely wrong. We want mutual brotherhood and friendship between the two countries.” According to the report, another Pakistani tourist Mansoor said that he had come to India with his family on a 90 -day visa on April 15. Condemning the Pahalgam attack, Mansoor said, “But we are returning home today.” He said that this should never have happened.
