A car smuggling the langurs on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway in Fatehganj Eastern Police Station area in Bareilly collided with the divider after which the smugglers escaped from the spot. The officer gave this information on Thursday.

Police said a car going to Bareilly near Hulasangra overbridge on Lucknow-Delhi National Highway was damaged by colliding with a divider. After the incident, two people riding the car fled from the spot.

He told that the police and villagers reached the spot when they saw a stir in a sack inside the car and opened it, then 10 langurs were found in it. Police said that eight langurs escaped while two langurs were found in injured condition who have been admitted to the veterinary hospital in Katra. One of them has been referred to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly.
