Federal elections are going to be held in Canada on 28 April. The Liberal Party led by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was leading in the current referendum surveys. The PM has called upon the voters to give him a strong mandate to deal with the tariff threat of US President Donald Trump. The equation changed with the resignation of PM Trudeau on 12 February. Carney got a chance to take over the Liberal Party and the country’s reins. He is a former central banker who has no political experience. However, the way he took the front between Trump’s tariff war, the Liberal party, which was lagging behind by 26 points, gained 6 points. In the three -day Nanos Pol, released on 21 April, the Liberal Party has overtaken with 43.7% public support, while Conservatives are trailing with 36.3%. Then, leftist New Democrats, who is also directly competitive to the Center-Left votes of the Liberal Party, is behind at 10.7%. If these numbers remain intact, Mark Carney will remain Prime Minister as Liberals will form his government with a majority of 343 seats in the House of Commons. To form the government, any party needs at least 172 seats. The current election survey claims that Carney’s Liberal Party may win 200 seats.
