The Center also transferred another judge of Delhi High Court Justice CD Singh to Allahabad High Court. The Center issued a notification to transfer Justice Yashwant Verma working as a judge of the Delhi High Court to the Allahabad High Court. A government notification issued on Friday stated that Justice Yashwant Verma has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court amid allegations of cash being found at his government residence. The Center also transferred another judge of Delhi High Court Justice CD Singh to Allahabad High Court. Earlier this afternoon, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking to register an FIR against former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma. A case of alleged illegal cash has been reported at his government residence. Cash sacks were recovered from there after the fire incident in Justice Verma’s house. A bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan heard the petition and said let the internal investigation be completed. The bench said that if he (Justice Yashwant Verma) is found guilty in the internal investigation, the CJI would have an option to order to register an FIR or recommend him to remove them from the government.
There is no basis for intervention in this matter today. Internal investigation is currently underway. Dismissing the petition, the court said that there may be many options after the report. The CJI on March 22 formed a three -member committee to conduct an internal inquiry into the allegations against Justice Verma. A three-member in-house committee appointed by the Supreme Court can meet Justice Verma this week. Sources said that before the meeting, Yashwant Verma sought a legal opinion from senior advocate Siddharth Aggarwal, Maneka Guruswami, Arundhati Katju and advocate Tara Narula, who had gone to his residence in Lutyens Delhi.
