Amravati. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the proposal to increase the gratuity and sabetan maternity leave and retirement age for recognized social health workers (Asha). The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure payment of subsidy to ASHA workers. They serve as an important link between people and healthcare systems.

An official press release issued said, “This will give retirement benefit of Rs 1.50 lakh to every Asha (worker) serving 30 years.” It said that 42,752 workers will benefit from the Chief Minister’s decision. He has approved the expansion of 180 days of the 180 -day -old maternity leave during the first two wombs of eligible health workers. The press release said that apart from this, Naidu has increased the retirement age of ASHA workers from 60 to 62.
