Officials of Srisailam Temple in Andhra Pradesh released clarification after a video went viral on social media, alleging that Laddoo Prasadam has found cockroaches. Temple officials have denied this claim as false and baseless. The temple said in a statement that on June 29, a devotee had argued with Prasadam sales employees, alleging that he had seen cockroaches in Laddu Prasadam. However, the temple said that there is no possibility of any adulteration in Prasadam. The statement said, all the Prasad are prepared with extreme cleanliness according to the traditions of the temple. Quality materials are used, and the entire process is constantly monitored.
The temple described the process in detail, stating that Bundi is prepared in hot ghee, mixed with syrup, dried under special wings, and then laddus are made, in which workers wear gloves and caps on the head. Officials said that complete preparations are made through CCTV monitoring and the kitchen is cleaned regularly using proper disinterests. The temple has also been certified by the Food Safety Management System for Cleanliness Standards.
Officials said that such rumors hurt the sentiments of the devotees and tarnish the reputation of the Srisailam region. He also mentioned a similar incident in February 2024, when a devotee claimed to have found bone in Pulihora Prasadam, which was still rejected. The temple urged the devotees not to get caught in wrong information and inform the executive officer or temple officials about any problem directly.
