In Kolkata, the issue of collective misconduct with a law student in Kolkata is once again becoming the big political issue in West Bengal, as much as a big female harassment is emerging. In this case, the unrestrained and shameless remarks of two senior leaders of the ruling party Trinamool Congress in West Bengal are embarrassing, unfortunate and insensitive response against the dignity, honor and identity of the woman. These leaders created a huge public anger in the state and the country due to a disputed statement on the gang rape case. Especially in the statements and thinking of politicians, once again, a shameless attempt has been made to blame the victim. In this case, the ruling TMC party seems to be surrounded by both the fronts inside and outside. While factionalism has come to the fore in the party in this case, the BJP is aggressively surrounded the Mamta government. Expressing disappointment over the statements of TMC’s female leader Mahua Moitra TMC leaders Kalyan Banerjee and Madan Mitra, it has clarified that the female-counsel is beyond the party line in the statement of these politicians.
It is a worse situation that the party’s leaders have made these unfortunate statements, the supremo of that party is a woman. This situation is unfortunate that during the years of rule and leadership of the Chief Minister like Mamta Banerjee, efforts to bring sensitivity to women’s honor and identity within TMC seem to fail. Often women and female politicians have been victims of vulgar, vulgar and stagnant comments at the hands of male leaders. Despite such statements, these politicians often escape after a mildly puffed up instead of some strict action. These statements are sometimes seen doing women’s body shaming, and sometimes they are seen trying to tell a serious crime like rape. Along with this, it is also a worrying message that it is common for leaders of various political parties to make light and objectionable statements about women.

When the daughters of a country are studying justice and there is a culmination of injustice to them, it becomes not just a criminal incident, but a heinous mirror for the whole society, system and thinking. The incident of gang rape of a reputed law college student has not only embarrassed political thinking and law temples, but has shocked every sensitive mind. The victim was a student studying in a law college, who was on the path of education with her bright future dreams. On the night of the incident, she was out with some of her acquaintances, some of whom trampled her identity. He was drugged and then taken to a deserted place and raped her by many. The police have detained some accused, showing readiness, but the question is, when the girl studying the law is insecure, how will the common women be safe? Is this not a time of introspection for the institutions that teach laws and the rulers that govern? Such incidents should strictly follow the laws made after the Nirbhaya incident. Rape should be considered as ‘national disaster’, not just a ‘crime’, and education, rituals and technical security means should be given priority for its prevention. This painful incident of Kolkata’s law student warns us that only the law is not enough, until the thinking of the society does not change, the daughters will remain insecure. This is not just a student’s fight, but a battle of safety of every daughter. Justice will happen when such incidents stop and for that we have to fight together.
The saddest aspect is that many times the society remains silent in such incidents, an attempt is made to blame the victim. On social media, things like tanj, media trials and personal characteristics hurt the victim more than justice. This pain for the victim increases further when her public representatives make shameless statements. The irony is that the shameless rhetoric towards the victim is not only a case of West Bengal alone, such insensitive comments have been revealed in other states of the country. If in the open society of the twenty -first century, we are not able to be free from the point of view of narrowness towards women, then it will be called irony. It is unfortunate that these are the people whom the people consider to be their leader and millions of people select them and send them to law and make laws in public representative institutions. Public representatives are expected to be more sensitive in view of increasing sexual exploitation, rape and female misconduct in the country. The big question is why a politician is allowed to see and how to see every woman in an insensitive way.
India is the only country where there is no concrete, strict and disciplinary action against them despite the shameless statements of the leaders who have wired the identity and existence of women. While this is not the case in other countries of the world. For example, in 2017, there was a lot of ruckus on the general statement of a UK councilor. The councilor had said about a pregnant woman politician contesting the election of MP, ‘She is pregnant and her time will be spent in changing the napi, what will she raise the voice of the common people?’ The councilor had to apologize for this. In many countries like Britain, such statements often take action. For example, in 2017, an MP of the European Parliament made a statement that women should get less money because they are weak, small and less intelligent. ‘ He was then suspended and the allowance he received was also closed.
The comments of TMC leaders in Kolkata’s law student case are undoubtedly condemnable, but it should also be condemned in strong terms by party leaders and workers. Mamta Banerjee has another challenge. RG Kar Medical College Rape- The murder and then the anger across the country is still fresh in memories. Undoubtedly, it is not enough to separate the party from only comments. Results should be decided for people going against women respect and life-values in public life. Otherwise the message will be sent in the society that there is no punitive action against such slanderous efforts. Prevention of a crime should become an essential condition of good governance, but when a crime occurs, effective response is equally important. TMC seems to fail in both cases. In such cases, like atrocities, those who support atrocities are guilty. Rapid justice and strict punishment are necessary for the oppressors, but the rhetorical rhetoric of the public representative should also be under the purview of crime. The Indian woman, who has been a victim of lifetime exploitation, oppression, atrocities, unwanted behavior and insult, will now be forced to drink poison sips in such new ways. She is looking at this cruel insult, this gruesome disrespect, this contaminated behavior and narrow justice. On the frame of justice and politics, changing the second status and misdemeanor thinking should be the highest priority. If we really want to respect the existence and identity of women, then it will be possible only with honest acceptance, investigation and fair justice.
