Ivanov oversees military infrastructure
Ivanov, 49, was appointed Deputy Defense Minister in 2016 and oversee property management, housing and medical assistance for military construction projects as well as the army. He was known for his gorgeous lifestyle, making many people angry in Moscow, just as the fight in Ukraine exposed the clear shortcomings in the Russian military organization and supply, resulting in failures in the battlefield.
Embezzlement of billions of rubles, luxurious property seized
Ivanov, who has been in custody since his arrest in April 2024, convicted the embezzlement of 3.9 billion rubles (about 50 million US dollars) by the Moscow City Court, denied the allegations. The court also seized his assets which included precious real estate and collection of old cars. Ivanov lawyers said that they would appeal against the decision. Ivanov has been banned by both the United States and the European Union for Moscow’s military action in Ukraine.
