The veteran bowler also supported the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision to seek government approval for the tour before confirming their participation in the tournament. In his statement, Harbhajan said why should the Indian team go to Pakistan?

There is a continuous discussion about the ICC Champions Trophy. It is hosted by Pakistan. However, confusion remains about Team India’s tour of Pakistan. Amidst all this, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has given a big statement regarding this. He said that India should not cross the border to Pakistan for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy. He clearly said that the security situation in the neighboring country is still unstable.

The veteran bowler also supported the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision to seek government approval for the tour before confirming their participation in the tournament. In his statement, Harbhajan said, “Why should the Indian team go to Pakistan? There is a concern about security in Pakistan. The situation in Pakistan is such that incidents happen almost every day. I don’t think it is safe (for the team) to go there.” He said that the BCCI’s stance is absolutely correct and nothing is more important than the safety of our players. I support the BCCI’s stance.

The Indian board has refrained from commenting on the issue and said that the country’s government will decide whether to travel to Pakistan or not. However, Pakistan has said that it will ensure that all of India’s matches will be held in Lahore and that the Indian team will stay in the same hotel throughout the tournament. It also said that being in one city will make it easier to provide foolproof security to the visiting side. Moreover, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced that it has acquired land adjacent to the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore to build a 5-star hotel. Sources have revealed that the PCB plans to build the hotel on its own and wants to complete the construction by early next year.
